Right after Gordon finishes this book…

Yes, you’re right we did call it that there would be a General Election announcement this weekend – semi-jestfully as I sat around lunch with (more…)

Friday Propaganda: Optimistic Edition

We were down listening to the Pre-Budget Report: recession deepening, debt mounting, taxes accumulating, politics of envy returning. But you know what cheered us up? The realisation that the government won’t get a chance to implement everything they want.

They’ve got to hold an election in the next six months, probably before the next Budget. So take heart from this incredibly simple poster the Conservatives put out in 1978, and look on the bright side of life.
Labour can't hang on for ever 1978

EXCLUSIVE: Interview with a UKIP defector

Posted on 30. Nov, 2009 by RK in United Kingdom

Recently, the man known only as ‘Andy’ came to the stark realisation that the UK Independence Party were, in his words, “a corrupt party.” Today, thanks to an exclusive source, KeepRightOnline brings you a short interview regarding what changed Andy’s mind about UKIP, and why he’s now a card carrying member of the Conservative Party again.

1. What first attracted to joining you to the UK Independence Party?

I’ve always considered myself a eurosceptic traditional conservative, and became increasingly concerned with Labour practically handing over powers to the bureaucrats in the European Union. After seeing UKIP’s European election success I thought they would be the number 1 party to join that addressed my concerns.

2. What were your experiences like in UKIP?

I’d say mainly positive. My (now ex-) regional organiser has even said he supports me whatever I do, because it is my life.

The member forums helped me a lot with any questions, and most users were friendly. I say were because when I left I got nothing but slander – like John Botting saying “it’s better for UKIP if you leave”, or words to that effect, as I can’t check due to me be banned from the members’ forum because I am no longer a member. No doubt I am probably getting slandered on the forum now, it’s just a shame I can’t defend myself or expose their hypocritical attacks, as they were kind to me before leaving.

3. Would you agree that UKIP are a barrier to the Eurosceptic movement in Britain by consistently shooting themselves in the foot?

Yes, a corrupt party trying to expose the EU for it’s corruptness seems a tad bit hypocritical to me.

a lot of their candidates are just “paper candidates” who won’t bother campaigning to win

4. What led you to decide to resign from UKIP?

Well I was considering going back to the Conservatives after my ‘year break’, as whilst I am passionately anti-EU, I want to be in a party that focuses on more than one issue, including local issues.

The final nail in the coffin that convinced me to send the email canceling my membership was the slander of me on their members’ forum. Like they said, may be it’s best if I’m not in UKIP (eh John Botting?) and Jonathan off the forums wouldn’t like me in his branch anyway (far away – but still, principle – I might’ve decided to move to his branch area).

5. What would you say to those considering lending a vote to UKIP in the upcoming General Election?

I got told a lot of their candidates are just “paper candidates” who won’t bother campaigning to win… So why bother? They don’t exactly sound committed. Surely a political party should select a candidate who is enthusiastic about representing the people?

6. What made you choose the Conservatives?

They were my original party and my silly one year experiment seems to have come to an end. At least with the Conservatives you have a strong voice, whilst working towards a less-federal Europe which Labour have thrown us in to.

Whatever you make of this, it’s clear to see that there have been a wave of recent defections or disgruntled members leaving the UK Independence Party. Rumours are the Lib Dems aren’t fairing much better either. When many are pinning their hopes on an early 2010 general election, UKIP seem to have resigned themselves to being a lost cause (Ed: Pearson to go?!). Watch this space for further breaking information.

Credit where it’s due for the source of this.

KeepRightOnline feel quite strongly about this cause, led by ConHome in the midst of the news that some councils could delay ‘the count’ after polling day at a General Election until the day after (i.e. Friday)!

Crazy business, we love our elections nights, our 3am coffees and the heart-in-mouth moments as the BBC Sky News reports the latest Conservative gain results.

Welcome back all after a busy weekend. KeepRightOnline wasn’t able to get to Norwich for the campaigning this weekend, however we hear it’s been busy with the dedicated and hardworking ground troops showing real progress in this constituency.

Meanwhile, dearest ‘lurch to the left’ leadership candidate Alan Johnson dropped a clanger this weekend. Mr Johnson told the BBC that ‘eight months before a general election’, Labour still has everything to play for’. Ok he dropped two clangers. One that we’re looking at an April 2010 General Election, and secondly, that he still believes Labour have any chance of winning! For shame, you out of touch buffoon.

YouGov puts the Tories in a 17 point lead this week, over that all important 40 marker, and Labour apparatchiks are still playing the, “We’re still in it,” card. Good for you old chaps. Even after twelve years of stripping, murdering and raping our country’s bloody corpse…

    you’re still in it!

Good thing we can still bring old Blighty back to life. Someone pass the defibrulator.

Dissolve the whole thing, you waddling oaf!

If this isn’t a shocking indictment of Gordon Brown’s inability to appoint cabinet members and hold together a stable government then I don’t know what is.

How far must this charade, this fucking insult to the British people go before we stand up and tell Gordon Brown once and for all…

Dissolve Parliament. Call a General Election. Piss off and never come back.

I am of course referring to the unimaginable declaration by the former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith.

Asked if she had worried she was not up to it [her job], she said: ‘Well, every single time that I was appointed to a ministerial job I thought that. I didn’t sleep for a week in 1999 when I got my ministerial job.’

How can we trust these people when they don’t even trust themselves?

We should be rioting in Parliament Square.

JACQUI

Can't hack it?

Alan Milburn will step down as an MP at the next General Election. Shocking that another Labour MP has lost complete faith in the direction of the party. (Ed: The party has a direction?)

Ouch!

Apologies for the light blogging lately- KRO MIA

Here’s a little something that smarts for Brown and Co. Even though he’s been doing his best media-whoring after taking tips from Peter and Jordan.

The Young Conservative is reporting a new campaign by Conservative Future today, urging members to print and post letters to the Prime Minister regarding the upcoming long awaited general election.

Whatcha readin Gordon?

Whatcha readin' Gordon?

“CF is starting this campaign as it is their generation that is going to be saddled with the debt of this Government. The Government got us into this debt and no one believes it will be able to get us out of it.”

While we here at Keep Right Online aren’t quite sure of how much of an impact posting letters to Downing Street will have (especially coming from Tories), it’s certainly a good thing to see CF leading on this.

Right you are CF… right you are!
