May I make an enemy out of you too?

This video really sheds some light on the young conservative movement in the United States. Fresh from CPAC, I thought I’d share with you a clip of probably the only guy at the conference who seemed to have a problem with GoProud, the organisation for the representation of gay conservatives affiliated to the Republican Party.
Ryan Sorba, speaking at a “two minute activist” slot in the main ballroom decided to use his 120 seconds to “condemn CPAC” for allowing GoProud to be at the event, citing natural rights over civil rights as his kicker. The problem is Mr. Sorba, how can one espouse such views all the while trumpeting words like ‘freedom’, ‘representation’ and ‘liberty’?
As the chair mentions ‘freedom of opinion’, I think I’ll repeat something one audience member can be (just about) heard saying, “Freedom to boo!”
Something tells me this isn’t the last we’ve heard from this young man. In the mean time, check out the stir he’s causing on Facebook.
Christian right just wants tolerance? Pull the other one
Posted on 03. Feb, 2010 by OHC in International, United Kingdom
ConservativeHome religious contributor Melanchthon posted last night a so-called ‘Plea for Tolerance’, claiming that Christians were persecuted and looked down upon in political life.
We understand that the rest of you will never really accept our twisted, unnatural beliefs and practices – that would be too much to ask. We seek only toleration. Now, up until recently, many of you have been prepared to tolerate us in your own way. You may have quailed at really granting us full freedom to hit our children or deny abortions or contraception to our youths, but by and large, provided we kept our beliefs and practices personal, in the privacy of our homes, churches, and consciences, up to a point you were content to leave us alone.
The problem with the religious right is that they are not content to keep themselves to their own homes, churches, and consciences. They, by definition, try to fuse religion with politics.
Conservatives ought to be fine with parents telling their kids not to have abortions. But demanding legislation for other people’ kids is not fine. I’ll leave aside the ‘Christians just want full freedom to hit their children’ argument.
Particularly, they lose the right to call themselves private or persecuted when they demand legislation by virtue of this being a ‘Christian country’ or ‘Judeo-Christian morality’. They are public and proud of it, and by institutionalising their beliefs, they discriminate against other people.
And that would be fine if we believed that the state is the right venue for that, but we don’t. Indeed, the ‘religious right’, as believers in the state imposing their values on the rest of society, are not really right wing at all. They are left wing and centralising statists. As such, they deserve to be left behind.
Friday Propaganda: Foreboding Edition

Imagine what Britain would be like in five years if Labour get in again. We’d be up crap creek without a paddle, having our heads beaten in by Nikolai Valuev (Ed: yeah, but would we have our keys?). Our economy, our Union, our freedom: all gone the way of the dodo.
Sounds familiar, right. Conservatives’ embrace of the civil liberties started with David Davis’s moment of madness, right? Wrong. After five years of Labour misgovernment, check out this election poster the Conservatives ran with in 1979.
Thank goodness Britain didn’t get them.
Fuck. Right. Off.

I was just thinking more and more about ID cards this morning, and I couldn’t help but mock up this little graphic and use the above headline to tell the government how I and every freedom loving individual feels about the ID card scheme.
No, it won’t stop terrorism.
No, it won’t save lives.
No, your details won’t be safe.
Big Brother Watch is getting a lot of coverage this morning with it’s claim that over half the population would need to voluntarily subscribe to the ID card scheme for it to break even on its taxpayer budget.
Conservative Future have a fantastic video regarding their work with NO2ID, the national campaign against ID cards.
Don’t be surprised if you see this editor on the news for climbing atop Parliament and demonstrating against this abhorrent scheme. After all, if it’s okay for environ-fascists to do it without consequence…
Young Tories back NO2ID.

This excellent video has come out of the new Conservative Future TV unit today, and is an awesome insight into the activism displayed within the ranks of the largest youth political movement in the country.
And how do they remember?
Posted on 12. Sep, 2009 by OHC in United Kingdom
Instead of the respectful manner that we ask for respecting those that were murdered in September 11th, the government remembers by exploiting our collective mourning. They play upon our fears and take advantage of our patriotism, by oppressing our rights and taking away the way of life to which the British and American people had become accustomed, and the way of life that we deserve.
Lew Rockwell wrote this response the day after 9/11:
The two buildings were once glorious, and all the more so because they were constructed not to display the glory of the State but to exhibit the creative power of the capitalist economy. Soaring 1,300 feet above the city, a person on the 110th floor enjoyed a panoramic view stretching 55 miles: a broad vision of human civilization. Much more important for the flowering of civilization is what went on there: entrepreneurship, creativity, exchange, service, all of it peaceful, all of it to the benefit of mankind.
And, yet, the state continues to stifle us and take away our freedom that allowed us to build that prosperity and the freedom that makes that prosperity worth having. The British and American governments wrecked the financial system. They compound that when, day after day, they introduce new legislation, preying on the worst of our instincts to trade our essential liberty for some temporary security: ultimately leaving us deserving and receiving neither.
That’s the theory behind the 9/12 Project, part of which is a big march in Washington, DC today (Ed: those Tea Party crazies again?). Because when confronted by a threat to our lives, livelihoods, and lifestyles, we have to do as the brave, yet ordinary, people of United 93 did: fight back.
We must give our boys the support they deserve

Patrick Sullivan, of Sullivan’s Diary fame (and a lot more) has fashioned this excellent piece for KeepRightOnline today on the ongoing situation in Afghanistan, or as people are widely referring to the issue lately, “AfPak”. Patrick well and truly hits the nail on the head, especially regarding one Mr. Bob Ainsworth. With ministers like these, who needs insurgents?
Patricks fears are somewhat realised in the developments today as voting cards are found for sale. Allow KeepRightOnline to ask the question that so many hesitate to offer: Are we really sure we want to be pulling out of the region right now? Over to Patrick…
The death toll in Afghanistan reached 204 on Sunday, this was a stark reminder of just how difficult and dangerous the challenge facing our boys has become. Their bravery and sacrifice must be honoured and supported, our service men and women put their lives on the line for us – and we should back them all the way.
Our soldiers fight for our freedom and our safety in extremely difficult conditions. They are in Afghanistan to fight an evil Taliban regime, which murdered over 3,000 people on 9/11 and countless thousands of innocent civilians in their own country over the years. The attacks on September 11 killed many innocent people from all religions. These were not just attacks on America – they were an attack on the civilised world.
It’s bad enough enough that this Labour Government grossly undersupplies them with the kit & helicopters that they so desperately need. Added to this, we have an over promoted councillor in the position of Secretary of State for Defence who is already proving that he simply isn’t up to the job. Faced with these challenges, it is more important than ever that we stand up and be proud of the work our boys are doing.
With the elections in Afghanistan just around the corner, the terrorists will continue maim, murder and kill to try to stop people casting their vote. The hate democracy, they hate freedom and will do anything they possibly can to destroy it. But our boys will be there, protecting the people of Afghanistan and helping the country transform into a safer, better and more prosperous country.
In these difficult times we must be resilient, strong and supportive of our service men and women and keep faith in the words of one wise lady who reminded us that attacks on innocent people will never succeed in the long term, because all attempts to destroy democracy by terrorism will fail.

A familiar image, and one that KeepRightOnline doesn’t take lightly. This poster, brought to you by a well known member of the NME via Facebook, captures the zeitgeist of Labour’s third term impeccably.

Guest Post: From Inside Iran – EXCLUSIVE
Posted on 08. Jul, 2009 by keeprightonline in United Kingdom
Special thanks to our reporter inside Iran who wishes to remain anonymous for the purpose of this post. The circumstances for true democracy has become increasingly dire in the Islamic Republic, and the guest author lays with astute insight, just what this means for the people, the country and the international community. Without further ado…
Every time I hear the Supreme Leader’s sermon I realise just how much the Islamic Republic put the ‘IR’ into irony and last week was no different. Threats, lies and the ‘enemies’ dominated the Friday prayers. Surprised much? Not really.
The Iranian people are taking to the streets everyday in numbers unprecedented since the Islamic Revolution with lives lost in the process, yet all the Supreme Leader could do was point his finger around while ignoring the needs and grievances of the overwhelming majority. In Iran, you need not look too far to hear the rage of the people. In the evenings at around 10pm you can hear people chanting “Down with the dictator,” and “God is great,” from their own homes. This is considered to be a ‘safer’ way of demonstrating your discontent with the election outcome.
To begin with, the votes were rigged. No doubt about it. In some parts of the country the voter turnout was above 100 per cent. Now I am not saying that this is impossible, what I am saying is that it is only possible through cheating! The paramilitary wing of the IR used expired identification cards to add votes to the ballot box; this is, however, just one way in which the votes were fixed.
So the elections are unfair, the system is corrupted, the figurehead is not impartial and therefore democracy in Iran is a sham, but what does all this mean about the Iranian system of governance and the future of the Iranian people?
To put it simply, the Iranian people feel that their voices mean nothing, which is a sound analysis given the current system. The immediate cause that triggered the protests was the ‘rigging’ of votes however the underlying causes are structural. Ultimate power lies with the Ayatollah (The Supreme Leader) who congratulated Ahmadinejad’s election victory before the results were even announced. Monkey business (and I’m not just talking about Ahmadinejad’s caricature). The hardliners in the country are not representative of the Iranian nation therefore nor is Ahmadinejad. Essentially, just like the British National Party should not and cannot be representative of the wider British public nor should the Islamist, hardliners in Iran.
Ultimately, the overwhelming majority of Iranians want freedom, liberty and opportunity. For the moment their closest alternative is Mousavi but can he deliver given the current set up of the Iranian system? In short, no and the outcome of the elections spell that out. Mousavi and the reformists in Iran need to decide whether they will side with the people or with the system and since the latter has let them down; it is likely that they will side with the former. This is, however, the BIG question and maybe the determinant factor of how successful the freedom fighters in Iran will be.
Another factor to consider here is the role of the free world. What role will other democracies play in order to support the Iranian cause? Speaking to some Iranians in this country and seeing the situation closely really supports the neoconservative argument. The free world must separate the Iranian people from their government and resist any negotiation with the regime.
To hit the nail on the head, any real progress in the Iranian system can only be achieved once politicians are elected to serve the people in a secular democracy. When the government has its own agenda, naturally, the people are ignored. The Islamic Republic has its own religious agenda and therefore can never be representative of the people.
Liberty + Danger > Peace + Slavery

You may have noticed we tend to bandy the words, “keep right,” and “something ain’t right,” around quite a bit, as a kind of catchphrase here at KeepRightOnline. But today, never more have the words been truer that something is most definitely not right.
Today the United Kingdom takes another step towards the shackles of slavery under the watchful eye of Big Bro’, with Manchester set to trial the government’s wasteful, freedom-eroding ID card scheme by autumn this year. But we are not powerless.
A little rebellion every now and then is a good thing.
We need a lot of rebellion right now.
The scheme, which is being sneaked through with little justification besides the questionable references to the war on terror, is set to cost the taxpayer nigh on £6billion (and rising) and will leave you and I susceptible to the failures of this government and it’s cronies to securely store and use the data they so illegitimately store on our personal and private lives.
Jacqui Smith is expected to tell the British public today that, “ID cards will deliver real benefits to everyone, including increased protection against criminals, illegal immigrants and terrorists.” The editors at KeepRightOnline are certainly keen to wave their ID cards in the face of this lot in an attempt to thwart their maniacal plans.
So ladies and gents, let’s open this one up to a vote… and in a shameless plug, send this link to friends and family to vote too. The more people we hear from, the more reliable the results, of course!
