Conservatives take the lead… amongst atheists
Posted on 12. Dec, 2009 by OHC in United Kingdom
No longer can the Conservatives’ opponents accuse them of being the Church of England in disguise or attach the party to the theocrats and evolution-deniers that has tainted much of the Republican Party.
We at KRO are sceptics, we love science (Ed: I love science!), and we’ll keep our colours firmly nailed to the mast. But not only are humanists on the rise in the Conservative Party, but Conservatives are on the rise in the humanist movement. Compare the Conservative Humanists to their rivals!

Insiders at the historically leftist British Humanist Association say that they got more sign-ups at Conservative Party Conference than the Labour and Lib Dem conferences put together. The Archbishop of Canterbury can whinge all he likes about politicians ignoring religion, but the irreligious are increasingly turning to the Tories.
Keep the non-faith and keep right.
YBF6 – A pre-post-conference roundup
Posted on 25. Oct, 2009 by RK in United Kingdom
We did it for Conservative Party Conference or #cpc09 to cool kids like me and you. We’ll do it again for YBF6. This years conference for young conservative activists has been without a doubt a resounding success, and scarily drunk affair. To put it in perspective, after saving the Queen many many times over dinner, plants were left in rooms and bears were stripped naked. (Ed: I hope that’s the actual bear, and not Harry)
With plenty to hat-tip, such as ambitious trees, feisty Texans, barnstorming speeches by Iain Dale, Matthew Richardson and masterful compering by Donal Blaney, this post could get exhaustive.
Pictures and more recollections will folllow (as memories come flooding back) but let it be said. YBF know how to party. I wonder if someone reached the embassy?
KeyFightOnline shout outs: Steven ‘can’t get it up’ Dent, Richard ‘Ralph’ Jackson, Melissa ‘Richardson’ Galatas, Hayley ‘Beer Breasts’ Hester, Chris ‘the botanist’ Hampsheir, Lauren ‘I’ll clean it up’ McEvatt, Emma ‘activism’ Carr, Harry ‘love child of Boris and Guido’ Cole, Donal ‘The briber’ Blaney, Matthew ‘Birdman’ Richardson, Christian ‘Toaster’ May and Juliet ‘Pure’ Samuel. Probably missed a few but apologies… still sweating the wine out…
Dave’s Speech Tag Cloud
Posted on 09. Oct, 2009 by RK in United Kingdom
Having been unable to find one online, we decided to take David Cameron’s speech to the Conservative Party Conference last night and create said ‘tag cloud’ from it. What came about was very interesting, especially when compared with last year’s cloud.
Key mentions:
Government – 39
Country – 34
Change – 14
Children – 21
People – 27
Responsibility – 24
School – 14
Society – 18
Work – 19
Today – 15
Together – 13
Love – 10
Family – 21
Anyone catch anything strange?
The journey home…

We’ll keep this short and hope to have various pictures and videos up over the next few days. Just a few quick points to mention:
1. Cameron’s speech was awesome.
The epic delivery of this hearty and passionate libertarian speech will surely strike fear into the hearts of those in the Labour Party who felt that DC was ‘all style and no substance’. The man hit all the right notes. #fact.
2. The Guardian trying to paint #cpc09 as some dark and horrific event is contemptible and despicable behaviour.
But what else did you expect?
3. KeepRightOnline’s bash at PartyForChange on Wednesday night will surely go down in conference legend.
…and we’ll do it again next year!
Major shout outs across the week go to (and apologies if we leave anyone out; the memory is slightly hazy)
Owen ‘Change’ Meredith, Sophie ‘Anti-Cheese Confederation’ Fernandes, Michelle ‘On Message’ Donelan, Danni ‘9am Lecture’ Robinson, Oliver ‘End Taxes’ Cooper, Emma ‘VIP’ Carr, Richard ‘Xbox’ Holloway, Edmund ‘Death Penalty’ Kozak, Steven ‘McDonalds’ Dent, Eric ‘The Chairman’ Pickles, Starbuck ‘I’m blue’ Coleman, Andrew ‘Former YC Chair’ Rosindell, Mark ‘Will argue on anything’ Wallace, Donal ‘Backhander’ Blaney, James ‘Two Wine Bottles’ Cleverly, Neil ‘The Tooth’ Cropper, Robert John ‘Why can’t I go in there?’ Tasker, Lauren ‘Blogger-to-be’ McEvatt, Harry ‘Tony Bear’ Cole, Richard ‘Ralph’ Jackson, The Swedes and many, many more…
Told You First
Posted on 07. Oct, 2009 by OHC in United Kingdom
We told you six weeks ago that the Conservative Party should be tapping up General Sir Richard Dannatt to send him to Parliament. And, lo and behold, the top story emanating from Conference today has been the announcement that he’s to be elevated to the House of Lords and appointed to the Tory defence team.

Help for Heroes - like Dannatt.
BBC News 24 is calling it a ’surprise’ appointment. Not to us, it wasn’t.
Conservative Party Conference, Day 1 Roundup

Well, it was indeed a very messy affair. Yes *gasp* David Cameron had a glass of champagne, but the real story is definitely the resounding success of the Tory Bear karaoke event which took place opposite the Midland Hotel last night.
True to form, TB organised a splendid schindig packed out by activists, PPCs, journos and of course, the Conservative Future National Exec (you’ll hopefully never find out why that’s a relevant comment).
Apologies for the short bloggery on this one, we have gain access to the 15 minute free wifi at the conference centre and want to make sure people are well up to date with things.
Quote of the day, by one KeepRightOnline editor in McDonalds:
“Excuse me, are there straws in the bag?”
“Straws are near the door, sir.”
“Sorry, I’m not familiar with this process.”
Who’s this bear and what’s that sticker he’s wearing?

Party conferences are usually a well-disciplined operation. Exhibitors generally don’t rock the boat, or they won’t be back the next year.
Unfortunately for the party, but fortunately for drama-seekers, crazy people on the street aren’t bound not to embarrass the party. Or, evidently, themselves, based on the antics of this anti-hunting nut, wearing a David Cameron mask outside Manchester Central.

What a Berkshire Hunt.

Better to be dead than red.
Didn’t they learn from Crewe and Nantwich? The British people are too smart for petty classist obsessions with ‘Tory toffs’. Laughable.
Conservative Party Conference, Day 0 roundup

Apologies dear readers, I know you were expecting loads of juicy gossip from here at #cpc09. Unfortunately, it’s been so damn busy that we haven’t had a chance to blog! (Ed: Lies. You’re just too cheap to fork out for wifi.) Here’s a quick round up of where KeepRightOnline has been.
Day 0
Arrived in Manchester around midday with the famous ToryTittleTatler and @ChristianJMay. Not a bad train ride at all. Settled in and headed to the YBF/CF Training event whereby KRO was impressed by the number of new recruits who had come to conference and come to the training. (Ed: Very on message, yawn) The night was swiftly engaged as CF troops were spotted packing out the Font Bar (with a visit from Evan Davies) and the Midland Hotel. It’s safe to say things got very messy after the 5th mudslide. ToryBear was unable to hold himself upright (Ed: What’s new?) and the night was spent chatting with eager activists.
KRO shout outs from Sunday night: Ken Chan, Henry Jamieson (Jamie Henrison), Owen Meredith, Richard ‘Neville’ Jackson, Michael ‘Mr. Chairman’ Rock, Donal Blaney, Neil Cropper, Patrick Sullivan, Michelle Donelan, Danni Robinson, Matthew Robinson, Peter Smallwood, Scott Seaman-Digby, Steven Dent and many more
FYI: Blackberry is being a pain so no pictures quite yet. Probably not such a bad idea.
