America. Don’t do it.

Posted on 20. Mar, 2010 by RK in Other

America. Don’t do it.

It’s 1.38am and I have 15 minutes of battery left on my Macbook, so I will keep this short.  America.  Do not pass the healthcare bill this weekend.

I know there has been a year, and more of debate, but that’s not been enough I’m afraid.  Despite the best efforts from both sides, you are still not in a position to commit trillions of dollars to a system that has thus far shown itself to be a Big Brother-esque idea to enforce healthcare upon those who perhaps don’t want or need it, and set a precedent for greater taxation in the future.

Remember your initial Medicare cost predictions.  Remember what government can and should do, and what it certainly should not.  Remember the Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights.  Remember your Constitution and what your founding fathers stood for.  Most of all, take a look at your counterparts across the Atlantic Ocean who toil under a socialist regime, with an ever increasing tax burden masquerading as service improvements and Executive-led protection over ‘public services’.

Regardless of how the pundits, the media and the left will spin it.  No one today, from scratch, would opt for a National Health Service as we have, and no one should support the public option as it is presented before the American people this weekend.

Take to the streets if you must.  Protect yourself from socialist creep.  We have failed here thus far.  Avenge us.  Please.

The Unseen ‘Blair Book’ Cover Art

The Unseen ‘Blair Book’ Cover Art

So TB’s new book is coming out in September, eh?  Nope, not Tory Bear but rather his mentor the former Prime Minister for Great Britain and Northern Ireland.  Yep, Tony Blair’s, “The Journey” will be gracing bookshelves (Ed: and possible bargain buckets) in the year to come.  KeepRightOnline has seen secret unseen cover art that never made Blair’s approval;  check it out:

Jokes aside, it’ll certainly be an interesting read- I’m especially looking forward to the ‘Brokeback’ moments with Brown, followed by the vase/phone throwing moments towards the end of the relationship.

“I have tried to write a book which describes the human as much as the political dimensions of life as prime minister,” he said.

Right.  But why ‘The Journey’?  He’s just a small town girl?

Labour. No matter whose money it is, they’ll waste it…

Labour. No matter whose money it is, they’ll waste it…

A little birdie tweeted in my ear earlier on that Kerry McCarthy MP has been trying to raise some money to counter the #kerryout campaign. The Twitter-led movement has raised over £1300 over a few weeks for Kerry’s opponent at the next General Election, the Conservative candidate Adeela Shafi.

Taking a quick look at the MyConservatives page for Adeela and the MembersNet page for Kerry, one can’t help but notice not just the complete lack of funding that Kerry is receiving, but also the rounded-up, vague and expensive prices that she’s put on her campaign tools.

- While £8.50 delivers to FOUR streets for the Tories, it’ll take £50 for Labour to make phone calls to ONE street. Interesting.

- £100 helps Labour write letters to 250 voters, while £175 helps the Conservatives survey (including return postage) 500. Economies of scale, something Labour’s economists never heard of. Engaging the electorate, something Kerry McCarthy has never dreamt of.

- Lastly, Adeela lists £47 to pay for 15,000 online adverts, whilst Labour don’t even have mention of this. I guess they see the Internet as useless and not worth utilising. (Ed: That or they give the party’s chaff a title like, “Twitter Tsar” or “The Facebook Madame” and have them make tits of themselves all day.)

Darling gagged!

Posted on 11. Dec, 2009 by RK in Other, United Kingdom

Darling gagged!

So, the PM blocked Darling’s plans for a quicker recovery? Further proof that Labour are playing politics with people’s lives.  More cuts would have meant the ability to lower the deficit faster, but Brown didn’t want Labour’s 4-point plan to go to pot, did he?

Well… this editor was awake early this morning and couldn’t sleep so… quick off the mark on this one!

Bear to the Future? (Ed: Nope, no good.)

Many of us know Tory Bear for his ability to travel internationally within the space of minutes, but now it appears he’s traveling through time!

Yes, Mr. Bear’s latest post comes to us incredibly enough, from tomorrow! (Check the date on the headline).

The bear brings us the best from the future...

The Liberty Belle: Who is John Galt?

Posted on 16. Nov, 2009 by RK in Other

libertybelle Yesterday I spent too much of my time sifting through blogs and reading the whining nonsense of leftist journalists, so I decided to check out our taxpayer funded, bipartisan blog, whitehouse.gov/blog, for some fact.

Instead, I found this bit of propaganda.

Here are a few interesting tidbits from the site:

It first accuses the “insurance lobby” (I believe the administration includes Tea Parties in this lobby) of “releasing alarmist reports” about the “draconian health care premium increases” that the new health care legislation would bring about. I’m not sure the effect on insurance premiums the new legislation would have, but I do know that the Congressional Budget Office report does not address it. So, the White House also does not know the effect on premiums.

It also claims that “insurance companies can profit from blocking down reform.” Of course they can! The legislation would implement a “public option” in health care which would create unbalanced competition eventually leading to the complete demise of the private insurance industry! In the words of Calvin Coolidge, “After all, the chief business of the American people is business. They are profoundly concerned with buying, selling, investing and prospering in the world.” Now the White House seeks to demonize business and profit in order to pass legislation intended to murder the private sector.

It gets better. The White House has obtained the statistics on insurance company profits from none other than its mistress, Goldman Sachs (one of the main receivers of taxpayer provided bailout money)! Why am I surprised?

The blog goes on to list key points in the legislation such as:

“Changing the way we handle hospitalizations, to prevent mistakes and to prevent unnecessary readmissions.”

“Creating incentives in the payment system to reward quality of care rather than just the quantity of procedures.”

“Putting prevention first, rewarding care that focuses on wellness and treating the whole patient in an integrated and coordinated delivery system.”

“Establishing a health insurance exchange with a public insurance option, where individuals and small businesses can buy lower-cost insurance that will spur competition and put downward pressure on costs”

Translation: We will tax you and control your life.

It adds:

“A fee on insurance companies offering high-premium plans — which would create a strong incentive for more efficient plans that would help reduce the growth of premiums.”

Dear private sector: You are screwed.

The Liberty Belle: Cheers to 2010!

libertybelleTuesday, November 2nd was election day here in the U.S. — Virginia and New Jersey tossed out their blue governors and replaced them with red ones, New York City re-elected Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and New York State District 23 elected a democrat on a technicality.

Because of King Barry Obama’s nomination of Congressman John McHugh as Secretary of the Army, District 23 held a special election to replace him.

In one corner, weighing a whopping 900 billion dollars was “Republican” Dede Scozzafava, the Dem in GOP attire. She was endorsed by Newt Gingrich (that was his third strike for me), The National Rifle Association… NYSUT (largest labor union in the state), lib dem blogger Markos Moulitsas, and the Daily Kos…need I say more?

In opposition, scaling the same weight class at $1 trillion, was Independent-turned-Democrat Bill Owens.

Because New York law requires no primary and nominees are selected by party chairs, Conservatives in the district were left without a candidate to represent them.

But lo! From the shadows emerged Doug Hoffman representing the Conservative Party of New York to the rescue! Though a sound contender, Hoffman was often described by those who know him best as an “awkward” regular Joe with “no charisma” nor “any public speaking capability whatsoever.” (the guy is an accountant, give him a break!) Despite this and his third-party status, conservatism prevailed.

Three days before election, considering her conservative constituents and the recent polling data putting her in third place, http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/hoffman_Scozzafava_/2009/10/26/277085.html?s=al&promo_code=8F67-1 Scozza dropped from the race in cowardice. She then endorsed Owens (I smell lobbyists).

Two days before election day Siena released a poll putting third-party Hoffman ahead of Owens 41% to 36%. A surge of electricity flowed across the country as the GOP opened its eyes to the true winner of elections: conservatism. They realized that the American people no longer tow the party line, but they vote on principles (wish they had learned this BEFORE nominating John McCain).

Despite having dropped out of the race, Scozzafava somehow managed to get her name on the ballot twice; one for the Republican Party and the other for the Working Families Party, who also endorsed Owens (boy was this election screwy?!)

The final score:

Owens (D) 49%

Hoffman (C) 46%

Scozza (R) 6%

46% + 6% = Majority

Despite the disappointing loss, Hoffman proved that conservatism is what the people want and, if necessary, they will elect a third-party candidate to get it.

The good news? This was a special election, which means Owens is up for re-election one year from now.

Mr. Owens, some sound advice:

When your last opponent won 45% of the vote and you did not win by majority, it would be wise not to break four campaign promises your first hour on the job.

Hoffman’s campaign website proudly reads: “Only 365 days until Election Day 2010!”

Cheers to 2010!

Songs of Sound: Waving Flags

Posted on 01. Nov, 2009 by OHC in Other, United Kingdom

British Sea Power (Ed: sound name!) released Waving Flags in 2007 to celebrate the eastward expansion of the European Union. It was recorded in the Czech Republic, launched at a mini-gig at the Czech embassy, and contains numerous references to our new European partners ‘from across the Vistula‘.

These ‘barbarians’ have come so very far since the fall of communism. And whilst British Sea Power didn’t mean it, I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s a long way from being saved from totalitarianism in 1989 to saving us from totalitarianism in 2009. In our opinion, the astronomical person mentioned in the first line just has to be Vaclav Klaus!

Oh welcome in, we are Barbarians.
Oh welcome in, cross the Carpathians.
Oh we can fail, not with Czech ecstasy;
No we won’t fail, not with Czech ecstasy,
So welcome in.
